Brust has returned to the Khaavren epic, first with last year's The Paths of the Dead, and now with its direct continuation, The Lord of Castle Black, a novel that gives Vlad Taltos and Khaavren fans alike a new look at one of Brust's most popular characters, the Dragonlord Morrolan. Steven Brust's third Vlad Taltos novel shows the author so warmed up to his formula that he could probably turn out a Taltos story in his sleep. And what's nice about this novel is the way in which Brust keeps his saga fresh by changing his approach in small but significant ways. Teckla is a novel of personal and political turmoil.

Steven Brust is the author of numerous fantasy novels, including Jhereg, Yendi, Teckla, and Orca. He lives in Minneapolis. If you follow this series chronologically, Vlad becomes more complex and human with each book, and "Teckla" is an important step on his bltadwin.ru "Teckla," Vlad discovers that his wife, Cawti, has joined a revolutionary organization, composed of Easterners and Teckla, and based in South Adrilankha. Teckla takes place at street level and Dragaeran politics are mostly not involved. We do see more of Vlad's grandfather and more hints of his background. There's also a brief appearance by Lord Khaavren at the end of his career, which is a link to Brust's other series set earlier in the same universe (starting with The Phoenix Guards).
