Shadows Over Innocence is an interesting little glimpse of Sicarius dating years before the events in The Emperor's Edge and his meeting with Amaranthe. It's not so much a proper short story as it is a snippet taken from Sicarius' past (literally dug out of Lindsay Buroker's archives and published due to fan demand), so I didn't find it at all a problem that it wasn't a standalone story.
